About John Dunbar
John trained as a draughtsman in marine engineering. Attended Edinburgh College of Art in late 1960, then opting professions into Architecture.
Participating in “Modsports” sports car racing and hill climbs during the 1970’s. This fired the passion for depicting speed in painting motor racing cars and scenes. Has always painted in oils as it suits his style in being able to drag the paint whilst still wet to express the feeling of speed.
The painting of landscapes is a different challenging pastime.
John is a past President of the SSAA- Scottish Society of Architect Artists and regularly exhibits in their annual exhibitions.
A member of the Guild of Motoring Artists. Exhibited at Coys historic festival in 2000 and Velocity in USA 2008
